Befuddled!

Mason building with library in backgroundSometimes life can be downright befuddling and that is exactly where I am now, befuddled! It’s a weird word, but it seems to fit the weird world we are living in. The song says that during the summertime, the livin’ is supposed to be easy. I don’t think this summer has been very easy for most anybody. Besides dealing with all the misconceptions, misunderstandings and mistaken beliefs that are so prevalent in our lives today, I lost my walking partner of 10 years and have had to put my dog and cat down this summer. It leaves one feeling totally deflated without the strength or the desire to do the things that need to be taken care of! Well, life is life and you do what you have to do!

We have finished the summer reading program and all that is left is Tuesday’s, August 11, prize drawings! We will then be turning our focus to our expansion project. We started this project a year ago with the purchase of the Mason building. Things have changed since then. Covid-19 and all of the repercussions from its appearance was not even something that was known about at that time. The pandemic has been a game changer for many, and that includes Lincoln Library. As we move into the fundraising phase, we invite anyone with ideas to share their suggestions with us. Of course, if you know of someone wanting to turn loose of a few hundred thousand dollars for posterity reasons, we will give that building their name in neon lights, if they so desire!

The 2020 Summer Reading Program Has Been Good!

woman reading to childrenWe are quickly coming to the end of the 2020 Summer Reading Program and it has been good! The young patrons have been wonderful and we’ve had an excellent time during story hours and craft classes. We have been blessed with people from the community who came in and presented interesting and informative story hours. We have had numerous patrons generously donate money for treats and prizes. We are grateful for every single person who has been involved with the summer reading program this year.

Everyone’s hours have to be turned in by August 7 to be counted. We will be having the prize drawings on August 11 at 10:00 AM. You do not have to be present to win. T-shirts for those who made their goal will be ordered on August 12 and patrons will be notified when the library receives them!
