Starting a new year around here isn’t an easy thing. There are so many things to get done in the first six weeks that my to-do list is beginning to look like a chapter book! One of the things I have to get done soon is confirming our magazine order. This is the time of year that we choose whether to continue receiving each of the magazines or dropping th subscription and trying out a different one.
I know there are magazine readers out there. The worst thing about magazine subscriptions is the accumulation that can build up and spread over every available space. We can help you with that around here. Is there a magazine that you really, really like to read, but don’t want to subscribe to? Is there a magazine that you would like to look through before you do subscribe to it? Do you just want a Friday evening at home reading a variety of magazines? Come in and check out what we do have and give us your suggestions on what you wish we had.
The Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library is going good throughout the county. Parents are getting their young children signed up to receive their book each month. You can drop by the library and pick up an enrollment form or you can go to imaginationlibrary.com and sign your child up online. All children under five years old are eligible to receive a book each month. The first book will take 8 to 10 weeks to arrive. One thing I would like to add, if you have more than one child under five, sign each one of them up. They each will receive their own book that is age appropriate.
We are in the process of putting the finishing touches on the 1000 Books Before Kindergarten program. Lincoln Library, Hardtner Library, and Kiowa Library are all working together so the program will be uniform county-wide. We will begin enrolling children in the program on February 3rd! Come on by and we will get your child signed up and answer any questions you may have.
The Expansion Committee will be meeting this week in hopes of moving closer to finalizing the plans for the newest addition. There will be no boredom at Lincoln Library in 2020!
